Am I at an increased risk of colon cancer due to my Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) diagnosis?

It is possible that your risk of colorectal cancer can increase because of IBD. Cancer risk increases with ulcerative colitis or Crohn\’s that affects the large intestine, having IBD longer than 8 years, or chronic severe inflammation of the colon or rectum. You can minimize your risk of colorectal cancer by working with your doctor on a treatment plan to keep IBD in remission, along with regular colorectal cancer screenings.
