What are clinical trials?

Clinical trials are research studies in which researchers study ways to advance or improve treatment of IBD. Clinical trials evaluate new treatments/methods for IBD management, treatment, diagnosis, prevention, screening, and/or quality of life enhancement. Eligibility to participate in a trial varies because different trials require different characteristics to participate. For example, some trials may require a certain ages and/or a particular diagnosis.

If you are interested in learning more about clinical trials or finding one in which to participate, there are online clinical trial finders. However, before enrolling, talk with a member of your Care Team to find out if a clinical trial may be right for you.
