What does Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) indeterminate or Indeterminate Colitis mean?

Indeterminate colitis, or IBD indeterminate, is used as a diagnosis when the disease does not present as typical ulcerative colitis or Crohn\’s disease and may have elements of each. Between10–15% of IBD cases may be classified as indeterminate. In many situations, a diagnosis of either ulcerative colitis or Crohn\’s disease may eventually be given.
