What is a capsule endoscopy and what it is measuring?
A capsule endopscopy involves swallowing a pill-size camera that takes pictures as it moves through the GI tract. A capsule endoscopy can potentially show irritated or ulcerated tissue, ulcers, or cancer. The benefit of the capsule endoscopy is that it can visualize parts of the intestines that can\’t be reached by regular upper endoscopy or colonoscopy. Your doctor may have ordered it to diagnose suspected IBD, monitor your IBD, or determine reasons for abdominal pain or unexplained bleeding.
