Why do I need to have my bloodwork frequently checked while on medication?

When you\’re receiving medications for treatment of IBD, your GI provider will want you to have your blood work checked every few months or so. They will be checking to ensure that the medication is  reducing inflammation; to make certain there are no side effects from the medications; to evaluate the level of medication in your body; and to ensure that you\’re not developing antibodies to the medication.
